Cut to size: CNC and waterjet precision

Finished stone rarely arrives as plain rectangles. A look at the bridge saws, waterjets and CNC machines that turn slabs into exact, project-ready pieces.

By GraniteFirms Editorial

A slab is only the starting point. Most projects need stone cut to precise dimensions, with holes, notches, curves and shaped edges. This cut to size work is where modern fabrication earns its reputation.

The machines that do the work

  • Bridge saws for accurate straight cuts and sizing.
  • Waterjets for intricate shapes, inlays and tight internal cuts.
  • CNC machines for profiled edges, curves and repeatable detail.
  • Edge polishers to finish the cut faces cleanly.

Why precision matters on site

When pieces arrive cut accurately, installation is faster, joints are tighter and waste on site is minimal. Clean, chip-free edges are a clear signal of good machinery and careful operators. Poor cutting, by contrast, shows up as ragged edges and pieces that need reworking before they fit.
